What are some of Pippa’s favorite books this week?
Well, we seem to have a theme… Could it be?? Is it…. it is! We are introducing the idea of using the P-O-T-T-Y!! And that means some very special books for this very special girl (who is growing up waaaay too fast!). So far we have just two books on the subject but I have a feeling that there could be more in this little reader’s future!
The first book was given to Pippa from her NaNa and it is already one of her new favorites. She’s read The Potty Book for Girls (in her own way) to mommy and daddy and even Boo-Boo, her puppy dog! The illustrations are very sweet and the story is very encouraging for little girls who are just learning to use the potty!
We also love that illustrations make it easy to understand the story without necessarily understanding all the words. And for a little one who is just under 2, that’s kind of a big plus!

“A toddler’s graduation from diapers to the potty is always a very important moment–and one to make parents and toddlers proud! In this book, Hannah needs to have her diaper changed so she can go out and play. Then Mom and Dad bring a big box home, and Hannah is anxious to open it up and see what’s inside. Is it a rocking chair? A bed for Teddy? No, it’s a potty–which means it’s time for Hannah to graduate from diapers. This gentle and humorous little story is charmingly illustrated and told in verse. Little girls will enjoy looking at the pictures and having the story read to them. Meanwhile, they’ll start getting the idea that it’s time for them to grow up, exactly like Hannah. So that at last, they’ll be able to say: “I’m off to the potty, No more diapers for me! And I feel great, I am proud of … ME! Here’s a pleasant and effective new way to begin a child’s toilet training. Barron’s also publishes a potty book for a little boy, starring Henry.” ~ Goodreads
The second book was picked up a couple weeks back when we had a big trip to the Roger Williams Zoo in Rhode Island with Auntie Sherri. What a fun day that was!! And who would’ve thought that at the zoo, we’d find a shop with an entire wall of books!? Well, guess which book daddy picked out for Pippa? Yup… Zoo Poo!
This is a very fun book that helps children understand that elephants, zebras, birds and even children poo. It’s completely normal and even though we all do it in our own way, there is nothing to be embarrassed about. The illustrations are vivid and even a bit candid but the point is delivered… we all poo!
