I’m the kind of gal that truly enjoys company. I love having a few friends by for tea and chat. I like to entertain. Making my home cozy and ready for a few guests, or even going the extra mile with the pretty plates and a lovely tablescape gets me super excited. I’ll plan out each detail and spend weeks picking out the right china. I declutter, I make lists, I plan – did I mention I am also a bit of a perfectionist and control freak? Yup, it’s true. So, it should come as no big surprise that I could spend hours digging through Pinterest or get lost in books focused on decor, organization, recipes, and entertaining. It’s kinda my thing.
Just over the last year, I have come across a couple of books that are more exciting than my Pinterest boards and they have found a permanent home (neatly) stacked on the side table in my living room. I keep them there mostly because they are so fantastic that I want to flip through them often to gather up inspiration but also because they are pretty and fun enough to leave them where company sits.

Molly Sims has a beautiful sense style (no surprise there) and when it comes to presenting her world in Everyday Chic, she does so with lots of class, lots of charm and loads of honesty. Yes, of course the pictures are all beautiful but there is way more content than that. With oodles of fantastic sounding recipes and even tips for parents of picky eaters (me, me!) I can easily get lost in this book. Molly knows how to reach her audience, too. Her tips are presented in a fun and exciting way. Molly spills like an old girlfriend and I love that! But really, Everyday Chic is not just about better eating or entertaining. Molly opens up her world to us and gives solid advice on creating the perfect space, meal planning, party planning, family time, organizing, being a mom, taking time for yourself… the list goes on. Love.

Celebrate was given to me by a dear friend when I purchased my new home last year. She knows me well and knows that I’ll take any excuse to throw a party or have guests by. Birthdays, Christmas, brunch, just for the heck of it… I enjoy spending time with the people I love. Unlike some other party planning books I have, Celebrate is pretty specific when it comes to presenting entertaining ideas. Each section is broken down by event type. In my mind, that is only suggestive but this method helps the reader to really experience the event all packaged together perfectly on the pages. You see it in action and what you see is beyond. It’s just spectacular. In my world, I pick the pieces from the different sections that will fit my needs for my event and I go with it. Menu, attire, decor, proper etiquette, and every other little detail is beautifully presented in this book.
These are currently my two favorites but I want to hear from you! Have you checked Everyday Chic or Celebrate yet? Perhaps, you have a favorite event/style book of your own? Please share! I am always happy to hear your suggestions! xo
