Discover Me Challenge: Inspiring Fictional Characters

Books, comics, movies, t.v. shows and even radio shows are full of interesting, diverse and even sometimes inspiring fictional characters. When they are written well, they leave an imprint. We are left wanting to know more about these fantastic characters. We borrow some of their (hopefully) best traits and try to find ways to work those behaviors into our own lives. Perhaps, they help make us better humans… wiser, kinder, more understanding, better. We like to revisit these characters from time to time, share them with others, quote them and even imagine them as our friends. They feel authentic to us because they move us.

For the first Discover Me Challenge prompt of 2018, I want to think about these inspiring, fictional characters. Who are they? Where did you “meet”? What makes them inspiring?

Remember, we are looking for a fictional character(s).

  • Tomorrow, The Ostrich and Other Lost Things by Beth Hautala will finally be released and I couldn’t recommend this fantastic middle-grade book more. It’s been a fast favorite - dealing with family, unconditional love and autism in a way I’ve not experienced before. It is beautiful and it reaches.
But that’s an entirely different book, right? I picked up this beauty because I loved The Ostrich so much that I needed to find Beth’s first book. So, here is Waiting for Unicorns and you can take a guess at what I’ll be reading today!

  • I’m so in love with this “new” old desk. My reading nook has been replaced with a writing nook. I read anywhere and everywhere, so this is a welcomed change. Now I have a place to explore my own ideas.

  • After coming off a book that completely gutted me (but was brilliantly written) I might need some “fluff”. From what I’ve gathered, this book isn’t it. Apparently, I love to torment myself with stories that grab at my heart and soul. .
